an intellectual and cultural revival of African American led music, dance, art, fashion, literature, theater, entrepreneurship, technology and spirituality centered in the Historic Bankhead community of Atlanta Georgia.

What gentrification has tried to drive out has now become the force that is transforming a community.



When valuable land in city centers catches the eyes of outside investors, those with resources begin moving into the community as property values rise and profit is to be made. This "gentrification wave" inevitably crushes or displaces the most vulnerable residents who are now unable to afford to live and flourish in their own community. As more and more of Bankhead's black and lower income citizens are forced to migrate, their spots in community life are filled with many who could care less about the history and struggle Bankhead's resilient residents have endured.



What is the Bankhead Renaissance?



a collective movement of numerous individuals, artists. activists, churches, businesses, non profits, and government officials who believe the ill effects of gentrification in the Bankhead Community can be confronted and counteracted by empowering the next generation of grass root leaders to:



  • Live in mental, emotional and spiritual wholeness
  • Receive a culturally relevant education and vocational skill set
  • Develop and publish positive and justice oriented audio and visual art
  • Learn the language of the tech revolution - IT and coding
  • Start new local businesses
  • Beautify and preserve the best of Bankhead's legacy
  • Launch initiatives that address the vocational, financial, residential, physical, mental, and emotional roadblocks to human flourishing.
  • Awaken restoration and revival in the hearts of people feeling trapped and hopeless

Professional Production

Producers like Mr. 217 mentor youth in their profession while also helping with character development and helping them see a future path where their creativity could also help them earn a living. Discipleship Trade Groups (DTG)



Community youth gather to be developed spiritually, creatively, vocationally, and economically in a culturally relevant way. Not only are their minds equipped with knowledge that will help them succeed, but they are also equipped with mental/emotional health resources and techniques that help produce the resilience needed to rise above the challenges this world will bring. Coding Class



Thanks to a sponsoring local Church, a coding Discipleship Trade Group (DTG) for youth interested in that career path was started in 2022. Georgia Tech Computer Science students volunteer to mentor Bankhead youth in Python and other coding languages that can help ensure high paying employment for those wanting to embrace it. Culinary Arts



Local chefs and even parents with a passion to cook give of their time to equip the next generation of culinary artists being raised up out of Bankhead. Youth not only learn the skill set of cooking, but also are also trained in the basics of the restaurant industry with the hope future business owners emerge. Learn More.


Fashion and Design



Local business leaders come in to teach youth are willing to learn a new trade that could turn into a career path some day. From fashion marketing, retail, clothing design and even printing and sewing, Bankhead youth are being exposed to all types of aspects of the fashion industry. Learn More.


Renaissance Lawn Care



The Renaissance team began a business servicing the community's landscaping needs and providing a healthy hustle for kids and teens looking for work. Learn More



Laying down Tracks



Artists have come from all around the country to record their music in Bankhead. Restoration Studios offers a safe place to create, and all profits from sessions go toward funding their studio mentorship program called "Studio Grind." Bankhead youth learn Audio engineering, production, recording, voice and instrument lessons. Learn More


TLAB Gaming Truck



When the TLAB Mobile gaming truck, an innovative black owned business, comes to town the youth of the community turn up for fun and fellowship. Learn More.
